Sydney - Brisbane: Sunny, 25

Easter Dinner...in a Casino?

Last day in Sydney with a flight out to Brisbane in 55 minutes...presently sitting at the airport. Today we woke to find the nasty storm from yesterday that dropped about 40mms of rain causing local flooding had passed by and we were presented with lovely sunny skies! It was so desperate yesterday that I actually agreed to go shopping in a mall for TWO HOURS! Those who know me will appreciate that this ranks right up there with a trip to the dentist for a root canal. Nothing finer than mall shopping...but we had to get out!

So as you can appreciate, to see the sun today made me pretty happy. Hey, we also moved back an hour as daylight savings time ended here last night. We will have that pleasure again when we return north in the fall...twice in a year!

These houses are quite old and are undergoing a revolution of sorts with rising prices the result.

After breakfast we headed off to the main Quay area for a nice long walk along the water and through the botanical gardens. A view of the Opera House rarely seen...a big boy!
This went so well that we ended up finding the long missing link in our Sydney experience...Harry's Cafe de Wheels! Not just any Harry's. The original Harry's!

It dates back to the 1940's and this is the original wagon. We had a personal tour of the wagon from one of the cooks on his break and we took a few photos of the big event...this is for our pal David in Vancouver who sent us off on our search! Over the decades the who's who have stopped here for a tasty meat pie...

Another famous person!
Then all too soon we continued off and through the gardens finding a few new birds for the collection...

Using our uber cool Opal bus passes we spent the last of our coin on a bus ride back to our area where we had an impromptu sushi lunch in the very amazing ecological Central Building. Definitely the best building on the trip. Very inspirational.

An outside wall!
Now we wait to fly on Easter Sunday to Brisbane. Tomorrow we are heading north to Port Douglas, even further north than Cairns where we will be floating around over top the Great Barrier Reef on Tuesday! How cool is that!! A life time wait almost over:-)   30+ degrees and perhaps a little humidity? Summer is here!!

Sitting on the airplane at some 40,000' and it's my turn for the window! We have the usual discussion about will we be on the correct side of the plane to see the city as we depart, Sydney in this case. As luck would have it, we are on the right side of the plane, actually the left side, and the sun is on that side too. Mother Nature comes through...
The clouds are so individual.

Will post this from our one night stand, next hotel on the list...whatever it's called?

Addendum: Found a different sort of place for our Easter dinner...a casino, complete with TV broadcasts of every possible type of sports betting available in Oz. Oh well, dinner was ok, and unusually the price was right.

Moon rise down the rail way tracks...
