As usual with one week to go there are many things to be finished up both domestically and at work. Lists! How would we survive without them to help keep us organized as we mature? We have a list for house chores, a list for garden projects, a packing list, a list of things to arrange for our other up-coming summer adventures, a list of things to leave behind for Bryan while we are away, a list of work based things...perhaps there should be a list to help keep our lists organized?
In any event, we are making progress. There are now two piles of 'stuff' in a spare room to take with us on our up-coming travel. The piles are a bit different this time round with cycling 'stuff' distributed in with our regular travel 'stuff'. Unfortunately this time there is sufficient 'stuff' that we will be unable to simply take a carry on, but will have to check through our slightly larger travel bags/packs. Good news is that they will only weigh about 18-20 lbs each, so not too heavy...oh plus a small shoulder bag for electronics and more 'stuff'...which probably each weigh about 100 lbs!
We have a 3 day weekend starting after work today which should help to significantly reduce the items on our lists of 'stuff' to do. Hopefully the weather will co-operate and allow us to get away from the lists long enough to go for another bike ride. We are beginning to feel fairly comfortable in our ability to peddle the daily 70+ kms that lay ahead of us in the Netherlands having recently completed a number of similar rides. Loaded panniers and the expected winds will add to the fun, but we won't be in any real hurry, unless of course its getting close to happy hour, in which case its every person for themselves! We don't plan to cycle every day, but at least 2 of every 3 days will be spent on our (hopefully) trusted Dutch steads.
Hoping to Skype with Caitlin tonight who is in Buenos Aires on her way through South America for 3 months. As a friend recently said, "oh to have young bones again!". Hopefully she will call today as its Annemarie's birthday. Anyway, time to get ready for work...another thing to tick off my list!
