Just back from kayaking in the Clayoquot Sound and it was pretty relaxing. Drifting in back-eddies and running the tide through various small channels was lots of fun, and the number of Bald Eagles was impressive. We caught the weather just right...low 20's and lots of blue sky! The sunsets were outstanding and needless to say, the photography was pretty easy. We're thinking of going back up later this summer to do some wilderness kayak camping and will see what can be arranged as it would be a pretty good experience.
Experienced a truely Canadian moment on Saturday evening as we sat in the local Legion to watch Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals (Canucks vs Bruins) on a huge screen. Not only did the home team win in overtime (Canucks of course), but the beer special was 'Lucky' for an amazing $3.75!! We participated in the hockey pool (didn't win), but I some how managed to pick the player who scored the winning goal...felt special until I found out there was no money involved...oh well.
Back in to work again, which gets a bit harder each time, but allows the travel fund to grow. Tentative plan is to cycle in Holland next spring for a time before transiting to somewhere for an independent walking tour (not really a tour, just a manner of speaking!). Afterwards Annie would return to Canada and I'd meet up with Bryan, destination still to be determined. Of course this all needs refining, defining and confirmation, and even after that it will no doubt be subject to change...but is for the moment the current topic(s) of discussion. Cycling in Holland has long been on the list, so will see if we can put this one together. This will require a few training miles, but no complaints as that's lots of fun too!
